BEN F. JONES SCHOLARSHIP

Every year, the Ben F. Jones Chapter awards a scholarship to a current law student who exhibits academic excellence, local community involvement, and enthusiasm for the goals and objectives of the National Bar Association. The awards are announced at the AnnualBarristers Ball in the fall. The amount of the scholarship differs from year to year, depending on available funds.

Essays that surpass the word count restrictions will NOT be considered.Â
Late submissions will NOT be considered.

  1. BFJ Membership
    (250 maximum word count)
    Why do you think it is important for Memphis-area law school graduates to become active members of the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the NBA?   How do you think this organization will benefit you upon graduation?
  2. Community Service
    (250 maximum word count)
    What events, experiences, or people in your life have inspired you to give back to the community?  Describe your most recent community service activity and/or leadership position (preferably during law school).Â
  3. The Memphis Community
    (500 maximum word count)
    What issues or challenges do you think are having the most negative effect on the community of Memphis today?  How will you use your law degree in the future to help resolve one or more of these problems?
